We Like Beer and we don't care who knows, IPAs, Lagers, Stouts...

So to continue on with our recent run of beers. We tried the Southern Tier Double IPA recently. Tiffany didn't care too much for this beer, but I thought I was pretty good. I found it to be quite hoppy, we a bit of a crisp kick at the end. (not sure how else to describe it). It was a bit strong. Not my favorite Southern Tier beer, and not my favorite IPA, but it was good. I would drink again.

Friday Tiffany said that we should go get some beer, so naturally I said "I'll be right back" I went down to Weilands Gourmet Market and looked through there selection. I stumbled across a brewing company I haven't heard of, Saranac, It was a 12 pack sampler of 6 different beers. We tried the Lager the first day and with all Lagers I found it to be a bit disappointing. I guess I am just not into that type of beer. I think it is better than your average domestic brew, but nothing I would go out of my way to drink. Tonight we are drinking Big Moose Ale which is an English Pale Ale. This one is much better. Similar to most IPA's that I have had, but perhaps not quite as Hoppy. I feel like it has a bit of a burnt Caramel flavor to it, but I could be making that up.

We.like.beer

James and I have been enjoying a nice cold beer quite regularly since having Eden.  She is an absolute joy in our lives, but after her bedtime, mommy and daddy just need a beer.

I've been really enjoying beer since attending some tastings over the past few years, and finally realize that I actually have a favorite!  IPAs (India Pale Ale) always hit the spot with me.  Funny, because I came to this conclusion independently of James, who also loves IPAs.

As we are sitting here enjoying our 'free' time with some beer and Sunday night football, James mentioned that we should be takings some notes on the different brews we've tried recently.  So here it goes...

Great Lakes Brewery, Commodore Perry, IPA -- We tried this last night and wow was it good.  Very smooth finish.  James described it as having a good amount of hop.  One of my top 5 IPAs so far.

Bell's Brewery, Two Hearted Ale, IPA -- This is our FAVORITE.  Mine for sure, and James said it's definitely his favorite IPA.  James said he doesn't have enough adjectives to describe this one.  Great hops.  "Crispy, very hoppy, I don't know"

Harpoon, IPA -- This is what we are trying tonight.  There was a good sale on it at Giant Eagle, and what inspired us to just start trying all of them.  It's "okay".  We both don't have a strong opinion on it.  James said it has a good aroma and a tart taste.  A good bite but I don't care for the aftertaste as much.

We need to develop some more descriptive terms if we're going to learn anything from our experiment!  Looking forward to seeing what's next!

Happy 3 Months, little Eden!

and GO BUCKS! (they need all the help they can get)
